Rafael Nadal expected to return to his’top level’ at the Brisbane.
Rafael Nadal is expected to return to his’top level’ at the Brisbane International, according to Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are looking forward to fellow superstar Rafael Nadal returning for the Brisbane International ahead of the Australian Open; both Djokovic and Alcaraz expect Nadal to be back at his best.
Both Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz expect Rafael Nadal to be back at his best when he resumes play in Australia.
Nadal will compete at the Brisbane International, which begins on Sunday and will be broadcast live by Sky Sports, before the Australian Open later in January.
Nadal had surgery on a muscularly injury at Melbourne Park in January and will play in Brisbane this weekend before returning to the Australian Open, where he won two of his 22 Grand Slam titles.
With a series of injuries limiting his appearances on the circuit, the 37-year-old expected to retire in 2024, but has picked up his preparation in recent weeks, and Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, claimed his great opponent cannot be written out just yet.
“I always expect him to play at his best, to be honest,” Djokovic remarked before falling to Alcaraz in a 4-6 6-4 6-4 exhibition match in Riyadh on Wednesday.
“They’ve signed him out numerous times, and they’ve done the same with me. However, we have proven them wrong. He’s not the type of player who will return to the tour merely to play a few matches on a medium level.
“He wants to win titles, he wants to be the best, that’s why he is who he is: a legend of our sport.” I’m confident his training and preparation are done with the goal of winning a Grand Slam.”
Alcaraz, who has lost two of his three matches with Nadal, claimed his buddy was at 100% after watching practice tapes.
“I’ve heard from other players who have practiced with Rafa in recent weeks that he will return to his previous level.” “He’s at the top of his game,” Alcaraz said.
However, Nadal’s coach, Carlos Moya, stated last week that while Nadal has made significant progress in training after recuperating from a hip injury, he is concerned as a coach about how his body will hold up to the rigors of Grand Slam tennis.
