Since winning the NBA In-Season Tournament, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in a free fall as they’ve tumbled down the Western Conference standings.

The 2023-24 NBA regular season version of the Lakers has looked like a completely different team compared to the one that won the IST.

Los Angeles is a mess on both ends of the floor and things continued to spiral downward as they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Things fell apart.

The Lakers got off to a quick start before things fell apart in the second half, only fueling rumors that head coach Darvin Ham’s job is in jeopardy.

Recent reports pegged Ham as someone who’s being monitored as he tries to navigate the team through their current rough patch.

However, Ham shot back at the reports and said that he has the full support of the front office via Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints.

“I’m solid,” Ham said. “My governor, Jeanie Buss, the boss lady; our president, Robert Pelinka — we’re all aligned”.

“As long as they’re not saying it, I guess I’m good. Which I know how they feel about me and the situation we’re currently in.”

Ham has always been confident in his ability to coach and lead, though it’s hard to ignore the growing discord in the locker room.

Several players have begun to voice their frustrations with the losing and it feels like the players and coaching staff aren’t working together to find solutions.

After the disappointing loss to Memphis, Los Angeles feels primed to make a move though it remains to be seen if that’s going to be via trade or letting go of Ham.
